This Privacy Policy explains how SMS Buddy AI ("SMS Buddy", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use our text message service and our website at smsbuddyai.com (together, the "Service").

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, mobile phone number and email address, which you give us when you sign up.
  • Messages: the text messages you send to SMS Buddy and the answers and pictures we send back, so we can reply to you and keep your conversation history.
  • Things you choose to tell us: to make answers more helpful, the Service may remember facts you mention in your messages, such as your interests or family members' names. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription and payment status, but we never see or store your card number.
  • Technical information: basic data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit on our website, which we use to run and secure the Service.
  • Phone line information: when you sign up we check what type of line your phone number is (for example mobile or landline) to make sure it can receive text messages.

How we use your information

  • To provide the Service: answer your questions, create pictures you ask for and send you links to them.
  • To manage your account, subscription, free trial and billing.
  • To send you service messages, such as your welcome message, log-in codes and notices about your plan.
  • To provide customer support.
  • To keep the Service safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.
  • To understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.

SMS Messaging and Consent

When you text START to the SMS Buddy phone number, we process your phone number and subscription status to activate the messaging service. We may process your messages and related information to respond to your requests, provide picture links, deliver the service and provide customer support.

Message frequency varies based on your interactions with the service. Message and data rates may apply.

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.

Mobile Information Sharing

We do not sell or share mobile information or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

We may share information with service providers that process data on our behalf, including SMS delivery and AI service providers, where necessary to operate and support SMS Buddy. Such processing is subject to applicable privacy requirements.

Service providers we use

We share information only as needed to run SMS Buddy, with providers that process it on our behalf:

  • Twilio, to send and receive text messages and check phone line types.
  • OpenAI, to generate answers and pictures from your messages.
  • Stripe, to process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Hosting and network providers that run our servers and website.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep your information

We keep your account information and conversation history while your account is active so the Service can work and you can see your past messages. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your messages, pictures and remembered facts, except for information we must keep for legal, tax or billing reasons.

Your choices and rights

  • Stop text messages: reply STOP to the SMS Buddy number at any time. Reply START to turn messages back on.
  • Access, correct or delete: you can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account and conversation history by emailing [email protected].
  • Cancel your plan: text ACCOUNT to SMS Buddy and follow the link, or contact us.

Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We will honor these requests as required by law and will not treat you differently for using them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your private chat link and log-in codes give access to your conversation, so please don't share them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

SMS Buddy is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and if the changes are significant we will let you know.
